Based in Lowestoft on the east coast of the UK we pride ourselves on quality, reliability and commitment to our customers. Due to continued expansion and an increasing requirement for completion of software related functions JME now offers the following permanent vacancies within our Design team.:-


SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Developing software solutions to meet project- and customer-specific requirements through a combination of team and individual efforts.
  • Taking a leading role in the specification, planning, development and testing of software, overseeing the entire development lifecycle.
  • Designing software solutions to meet a multitude of different project criteria, at varying technical levels from basic UI functionality through to complex data manipulation and computation.
  • Integrating new software solutions into both new and established product ranges.
  • Troubleshooting issues with products and projects by liaising with Production Technicians and JME’s team of Design Engineers.
  • Conducting detailed root cause analysis where needed.
  • Providing technical support to our diverse range of customers in addition to supporting production colleagues as and when required.

Required Skills / Qualifications:

  • A BSc/MSc Degree, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or similar
  • A thorough (and proven) understanding of the software development process.
  • Proficient in C++ and C#,Python, plus other object-oriented languages.
  • Time-served and experienced in producing software meeting technical requirements and also meeting or exceeding end-user expectations.
  • Good knowledge of database implementation and use.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in electronics.
  • Knowledge and experience of using OpenCL and/or CUDA C to offload computational tasks to the GPU.
  • A background in maths, physics, or other sciences.
  • A proven background and experience with integrating hardware via a range of ports.

Preferred Skills /Attributes/ experience:

  • The successful candidate will benefit from funded training by external training providers.
  • Candidate should be a self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player.
  • Have strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to multi-task and support multiple priorities.
  • Strong Analytical and Problem Solving Skills.
  • Experienced in Java applications.
  • Have the ability to work alongside others in different disciplines and various levels of expertise.
  • knowledge and/or experience in NDT or radiography.

ASSISTANT SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Developing software solutions to meet project requirements through team and individual efforts. Participate in the analysis and composition of requirements, design of architectural and component software features, design and implementation of system, design and implementation of test plan, and documentation of final product. Adapting to new methodologies, and platforms to meet the needs of the project. Develop applications written in C# or Python. Initial duties will include reviewing code, troubleshooting production and current design issues, writing documentation, and following test procedures. Later duties may include responsibility for production software components, UI design, graphics development, and/or programming.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • A HND, Fdsc or Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related IT discipline.
  • A Level maths, physics, or other sciences.
  • Strong technical skills including understanding of software development principles.
  • Familiar with the Visual Studio Development Environment and .Net.
  • Proficient in C#, python, or other object-oriented languages.

  • Knowledge and/or experience in electronics.
  • Candidate should be a self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player.
