CNC Operator/Machinist

JME is looking for an experienced CNC operator/Machinist.

We are a market leading manufacturer of non-destructive testing equipment that is sold globally. Therefore Quality is at the upmost importance at JME.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day duties within our busy machine workshop.

You will be required to work both supervised and unsupervised to manufacture components to controlled drawings, to a very high standard. You will also be required to complete some mechanical assembly.

This role will require the individual to be innovative, be creative and forward thinking and be able to work using your own initiative.

The ideal candidate and duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Minimum apprenticeship qualified, or time served machinist/CNC operator.
  • Must be able to work to tight tolerances.
  • A knowledge of Prototrak is an advantage.
  • Have good interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Assist when needed with checking goods inward such as component orders, metal stock deliveries and components such as fabricated and machined parts manufactured internally of from suppliers.
  • Assist when needed with Inspecting machined and fabricated components against technical drawings
  • From time to time you may be requested to work closely with customers and suppliers.
  • Ensure that products comply with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Work to our ISO 9001 quality system.
  • Work within our health and safety policy.
  • Flexible approach to work, with the ability to multitask.
  • A full clean driving licence is an advantage.

Apprentice CNC Operator/Machinist

Course - Engineering Technician (Machinist Pathway)

JME is looking for an apprentice or part qualified CNC operator/Machinist.

We are a market leading manufacturer of non-destructive testing equipment that is sold globally. Therefore, Quality is at the upmost importance at JME.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day duties within our busy machine workshop.

You will be required to work both supervised and unsupervised to manufacture components to controlled drawings, to a very high standard. You will also be required to complete some mechanical assembly.

This role will require the individual to be innovative, be creative and forward thinking and be able to work using your own initiative.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Use all machinery associated with a machine shop both manual and CNC methods.
  • Checking goods inward such as component orders, metal stock deliveries and components such as fabricated and machined parts from suppliers.
  • Inspecting machined and fabricated components against technical drawings.
  • Using a variety of different precision measuring equipment such as Micrometer’s, Vernier’s etc.
  • Adhering and upholding company quality policies and procedures and working within ISO9001.
  • Prepare job packs.

The Ideal applicant will:

  • Be a good communicator.
  • Computer literate, both on MS, and for data entry on an in-house software system.
  • Interested in engineering.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Flexible approach to work, with the ability to multitask.
  • Be able to work under pressure.

Desired qualifications:

Ideally GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English, mathematics and Science or equivalent.
Full UK Drivers license advantageous but not essential.

SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Developing software solutions to meet project- and customer-specific requirements through a combination of team and individual efforts.
  • Taking a leading role in the specification, planning, development and testing of software, overseeing the entire development lifecycle.
  • Designing software solutions to meet a multitude of different project criteria, at varying technical levels from basic UI functionality through to complex data manipulation and computation.
  • Integrating new software solutions into both new and established product ranges.
  • Troubleshooting issues with products and projects by liaising with Production Technicians and JME’s team of Design Engineers.
  • Conducting detailed root cause analysis where needed.
  • Providing technical support to our diverse range of customers in addition to supporting production colleagues as and when required.

Required Skills / Qualifications:

  • A BSc/MSc Degree, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or similar
  • A thorough (and proven) understanding of the software development process.
  • Proficient in C++ and C#,Python, plus other object-oriented languages.
  • Time-served and experienced in producing software meeting technical requirements and also meeting or exceeding end-user expectations.
  • Good knowledge of database implementation and use.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in electronics.
  • Knowledge and experience of using OpenCL and/or CUDA C to offload computational tasks to the GPU.
  • A background in maths, physics, or other sciences.
  • A proven background and experience with integrating hardware via a range of ports.

Preferred Skills /Attributes/ experience:

  • The successful candidate will benefit from funded training by external training providers.
  • Candidate should be a self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player.
  • Have strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to multi-task and support multiple priorities.
  • Strong Analytical and Problem Solving Skills.
  • Experienced in Java applications.
  • Have the ability to work alongside others in different disciplines and various levels of expertise.
  • knowledge and/or experience in NDT or radiography.

Adapting to new methodologies, and platforms to meet the needs of the project. Develop applications written in C# or Python. Initial duties will include reviewing code, troubleshooting production and current design issues, writing documentation, and following test procedures. Later duties may include responsibility for production software components, UI design, graphics development, and/or programming.
